Nothing is special about today and is it a normal, fairly busy Monday. My normal Monday involves preparing for the rest of my week, my classes I take, my class I teach, setting up my training schedule, and attending my dear friend/mentor's health class lecture.

Last night I didn't want to go to sleep because I knew the week would be here once I closed my eyes and opened them again. I had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Friday night I didn't do anything except go to the gym. On Saturday I had breakfast with my mom and later celebrated my sister's 30th birthday in our usual Fall Fest fashion as she calls it. Fire, S'mores, pumpkin carving, & chilli. And Sunday was a sweet day of rest with the boyfriend, we relaxed and went to see a movie ( Real Steel, and yes we liked it haha). So nothing fancy, wild or crazy, but that is exactly the reason I didn't want my weekend to end, especially my day of rest. Once my feet hit the ground this week, they would be going, well maybe not so much my feet, as my mind, but none the less I have a busy week ahead.

Rest is a major key to health and happiness. On Thursday night a guest speaker came to my Holistic Health class and after class kind of checked me out and essentially told me I am burning my candle at both ends. I have headaches, muscles pain, knots, & a couple other symptoms all most likely stemming for the simple fact, I am so busy I am forgetting to do the simplest thing: Be still.

So with Monday here, I have picked my solutions, some are already in progess:

I need to eat more and consistently. I eat enough to maintain, but as much as i work out and am on the go, i am not properly fueling my body. Nutrient dense food is what I need.

I need to get on a waking up habit. We are trying out 8 am everyday and seeing how it works out. Gives me some extra time in my day to relax as I go, and get more accomplished.

Next week I will begin replacing one of my workout days with a Yoga class. A productive, but not counter productive exercise.

I have also recently purchased a new Daily Women's Devotional, so spend some time in meditation each day.

Day 1 already hasn't gone as planned, so I must be diligent. I have been tired, fatigued in the gym, and consistently getting headaches the last few weeks, so it is time to shake it up, mentally, academically, emotionally, and physically.

Rest is essential. No, I don't need more sleep, but I must remember to rest and relax throughout my day. To fuel, to think, to re-cooperate. So are you resting? Are you resting TOO much?

If you are an avid gym goer, then you must remember you need at least ONE day a week of rest. Myself and a co-worker were discussing that today. She had to tell herself not to go. And I 100% understood her, we love the gym and know it is counter productive to overwork, but yet we always dread the one day of the week we aren't active or in the gym.

If you have anything you always do , that you love, you may still need a break. We can't overwork ourselves on anything.

Well for now, I must return to my to busy week.

-R
